Natalie Portman (Portman is a stage name) was born on June 9, 1981 in Jerusalem, Israel. She is fluent in Hebrew, French, and Japanese. The Professional (1994) was her film debut and earned her high praise for her unusually mature acting. She has since starred in a variety of films including Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace and on Broadway in The Diary of Anne Frank. Most of her role consist of characters that are smart and very mature for their age.
