Alderaan
Alderaan was a peaceful world known as a center of art, education, and culture for thousands of years. Located near the core worlds it had a temperate climate with warm spring rains and gentle winds known as the “Song of Alderaan.” Its vast skies, unique creatures, and expansive grasslands were something to be boasted of. All that remains of this beautiful world after the Death Star’s destructive visit is an asteroid field known as the Graveyard. A tradition for surviving Alderaanians is to release a capsule of gifts for their dead loved ones into the Graveyard.
History
Though Alderaan had long been a democracy it retained a ruling royal family in the House of Organa. Alderaan participated in the bloody Clone Wars after which its citizens adopted pacifism and all weapons were banned from the surface. The weapons were placed on the ship Another Chance which was programmed to jump from system to system until the Council of Elders called it home. Another Chance was found and its weapons used by the Rebellion shortly after Alderaan was destroyed by the first Death Star.
